Weekly Rental Review - Deadliest Warrior: The Game (Gameplay/Commentary)
Hi should I rent Dante's Inferno or Final Fantasy XIII?
Hi I have Gamefly & I've own Red Dead Redemption,Mass Effect 2,Bioshock 2, & MW2 already. My next rental either would be FF XIII or Dante's Inferno. I do know that Dante's is based on the book & I'm going to read it because is way too long & Dante's does have good reviews from Amazon. As for FF XIII, I do want to play it but their are huge numbers that games have complained about FF XIII that is unplayable & defected. What is your opnion? Thanks.
PS If I like Dead Space, in my going to like Dante's?
Saying Dante's Inferno is based on the Divine Comedy is like saying Jurassic Park was based on the novel. When it comes down to it....the two have very little in common besides names. That may be giving the game more credit than it deserves. It has roughly about 8-10 hours of game play.
As for FFXIII, I haven't beaten it yet. I've played 25 hours into it & have pretty much walked in a straight line for the whole time. I have just now gotten to an open world...even then, I don't know how "open" it's going to be for me. Also, I hope you don't mind your summons looking mildly retarded. However, I have no place to judge it since I haven't beaten it yet. I set it aside for Alan Wake & Nier. Both were entertaining. I will continue playing it now that I'm done with Alan Wake & Nier.
If I had to pick between the two of them I might rent Dante's Inferno because you'll be done with it fairly quickly then move on to the more time intensive rpg that you're interested in.
If you haven't tried Alan Wake or Nier yet I highly recommend them both.
Alan Wake is also a good rental. It has 6 chapters & each will take 2-3 hours to complete. A little more if you want to explore a bit. It feels slightly episodic in the way it tells it's story. Also, the game monitors your play-style & will adjust the difficulty according to it. I enjoyed it & it would make a good rental. It's not survival horror so much as thriller designed. Just keep in mind this game is designed to have a sequel follow it.
Nier is one of the few RPGs I've found that feels like it was actually meant for adults. I don't say that because it swears or it's bloody...but it's just the overall feel & subject matter of the game. It's also kind of nice playing a protagonist that starts in his 40's & not 15. I found it very refreshing in a world of typical JRPGs. It's the first time SquareEnix has actually tried to market to an American audience. While it's still not my favorite rpg...I still loved the game.
