It’s not a ‘little “story”‘ if you understand economics. The video game market is in a particularly consumer-unfriendly phase at the moment and pirates have every right to be upset. Publishers are blatantly abusing their power by artificially inflating prices (staggered pricing would be the norm if there was a fair level of competition), requiring DRM despite the fact that it causes grief yet barely works and now [we don’t even get to own the software we pay Don’t get me wrong, I believe developers are fully entitled to monetary reward. I often pirate the games that I want but can’t get under reasonable terms and then pay money for games that I don’t even play, just because their publishers are less abusive. I reward those who treat me fairly without compromising my own entertainment. Back on topic: *Laws are stupid* and are becoming increasingly more disconnected from their original purpose, to facilitate societal development. We don’t actually have much control over how laws are made anymore(See: and little rebellions like this are an effective way of bringing the issues to public attention. By saying that all law breaking is the same, you are helping large corporations make our governments totalitarian. Please stop, for all of our sakes.
