You don't sound like you're displaying anger, not in this post at least.
I think there's a kind a naivety among Americans. "Why would you live there when you could live here?" with no understanding of the realities of leaving your country and everything you know and love behind. Plus, we assume, poor, unstable country, whatever, with no knowledge of what daily life is actually like there.
