why do critics always seem to agree?

whenever critics of any kind of media gives a review, they always score it similarly to other critics. is there a conspiracy regarding that they get pay by the publishers to give a certain rating??

this is especially true when it comes to video games reviews.

I don't think they do. The most important thing these people have are their reputation and integrity. And I love GTA!!! I also don't see them agree about every movie. I always notice that some papers say something is a must see while others say skip it. If they were payed Ebert and Roper would agree all the time. And they dont.

Un-biased Dead Rising: Wii review please?

I am an avid fan of zombie movies and video games. I also do not own a 360 and don't plan on it. Given those factors Finding out dead rising was coming to the Wii made me extremely excited. The only problem is the only reviews I have found are written by 360 fanboys. Most people compare it to the 360 version too much and give the game bad scores because of that. Other people say it is a great game and that even having played the 360 version they like it. I don't know who to believe. Please just review the game not as a port just as a game. I don't care about the graphics. By the way is the battleaxe in the wii version (I got bored so I watched part of a 360 version walkthrough)?

I just bought a Wii last weekend as well as Dead Rising, so I can't compare DR with similar titles. Game is very enjoyable. I like the story and voice-acting, but of course what sets this apart is the Wiimote. Being surrounded by zombies, having to shake them off, and slashing at them with the Wiimote makes for a much more visceral experience than just bashing buttons. Sound is also very immersive. Can't play too long with a break: you're palms will sweat.

Never played the 360 version, but I do have some quibbles. You can't jump, and the layout of the mall has lots of obstructions that force you down narrow paths (where there are lots of zombies, of course). It's irritating to be blocked by a "under construction" sign when you have tons of zombies at your back, or not being able to walk onto a ledge that is one foot above the ground. I think this might be a way of created the "hordes of zombies coming at you" effect without there actually being that many around (I heard the 360 version had many more on-screen at any given time).

I hate the zombie parrots and dogs, since they are too hard to get a bead on them once they get close. It shouldn't be hard to shoot a dog biting at your ankles, but it is in this game.

Finally, it's good you don't care about graphics (neither do I, really), because the graphics would not look out of place at the original Xbox.
