Copyright for Video Games?

I wanted to make an online or local television video game review show, but I would like to keep everything legit, and would like permission before I do something stupid regarding footage.

How do I contact companies to get the rights to show small amounts of in game footage for reviews?

Is this necessary?(I know you CAN get away with it, I want legit tho)

Any other thoughts?

It's impossible to say in the abstract whether you NEED to obtain permission. It depends greatly on the amount of the games you decide to utilize in your reviews and your (or your attorney's) view on whether that amount constitutes fair use.

If you decide to obtain permission, I suggest you contact the licensing or legal department of the video game companies.
